The Team
James leads Volution’s investment strategy, backing technology companies across the UK and Europe from early growth through to international expansion. His focus is on financial infrastructure and enterprise AI. He has over 25 years’ experience in private equity and venture capital, including senior roles at J.P. Morgan and Montagu.

Ed combines operational and investment responsibilities at Volution. He began his career at Freshfields in London and Tokyo before joining Lehman Brothers and later becoming Head of Legal, EMEA, at Neuberger Berman.

Nick supports Volution’s governance and international growth, particularly in Asia. He has more than 30 years’ experience in global asset management, serving as Head of Asia Pacific at Neuberger Berman. He has also held roles at Fidelity and J.P. Morgan.

Nina oversees Volution’s operations, investor relations, portfolio development, brand and ESG. Previously, she held senior strategic and commercial roles at Christie’s, driving global programmes across digital initiatives, art finance and international business development.

Mike began his career in mechanical engineering at Rolls-Royce before joining UBS Investment Bank. He moved into venture investing at Redline Capital in 2014, working across the investment lifecycle. At Volution, he focuses on deal origination, evaluating new investment opportunities and driving them through to completion.

Amy joined Volution in 2021. She began her career in strategy consulting at Estin & Co in Paris and London before moving into UK mid-market private equity at Phoenix Equity Partners. At Volution, she oversees portfolio monitoring and reporting, and supports deal origination and execution.

Jonny was part of the founding team at Star, an early UK internet service provider, before helping MessageLabs expand internationally. He later established Armada Ventures, which raised institutional capital for B2B software companies. At Volution, he works with management teams on growth strategy and future funding needs.

Steve co-founded Currencycloud and has over 20 years’ experience in fintech, foreign exchange and payments. As VP, Partners and Enterprise, he developed Currencycloud’s relationship with Visa, which later acquired the business for $1bn. At Volution, he assesses new investments and works with portfolio companies on commercial growth and partnerships.
