Forbes JAPAN has named Tomoyuki Nii of SBI Investment as the number one investor in its latest Ranking of Japan’s Most Influential Venture Investors, recognising the individuals who generated the greatest realised capital gains over the past year.

Given Volution’s partnership with SBI and Tomoyuki Nii’s role on Volution’s Investment Committee, his recognition by Forbes JAPAN reflects the depth of global market insight informing Volution’s approach as it backs productivity-enhancing FinTech and B2B SaaS businesses scaling across the UK, Europe and internationally.

Compiled by the Forbes JAPAN editorial team in collaboration with the Japan Venture Capital Association (JVCA), the ranking assesses capital gains achieved through IPOs and M&A between November 2024 and October 2025. Only exits delivering more than a 2x return were included, with IPO gains calculated at listing price and M&A gains based on confirmed consideration, excluding earn-outs.

Nii-san secured first place following SBI Investment’s early backing of eToro Group, the Israeli fintech platform that listed on Nasdaq in April 2025. The investment generated an estimated capital gain of ¥8.94bn, placing him at the top of a list often regarded as Japan’s equivalent of the US Forbes Midas List.

James Codling, Managing Partner of Volution, commented: “Congratulations to Nii-san on this exceptional recognition by Forbes JAPAN. His track record speaks for itself, and we are fortunate to benefit from his perspective through our partnership with SBI and his role on our Investment Committee. This recognition is a powerful validation of the global, connected approach we take at Volution and the calibre of insight shaping our investment decisions.”
